Day 3 Kansas City, MO to North Platte, NE

We've had a lot of slow connections, so it's been hard to keep up the blog, but we'll post as many pictures as we can. Eggct was in downtown Kansas City, top of the list on tripadvisor. First time eating guava cream cheese, but I would come back here again for more of it!
Giant windmills in Rock Port, Missouri. You should hear them. Mega "whoosh!"

Finally found the book Nancy recommended, Born to Run, at the 3rd bookstore we tried on the road. This one came from the Indigo Bookstore in  Lincoln, Nebraska, in a very cool part of town called the Haymarket. We had great organic/local food at Maggie's Vegetarian Vittles.

I wish we'd had more time here -- we arrived 15 minutes before closing, and there was no time for pictures, but we have a link:
We weren't sure what to expect -- cheesy or cool -- but it was 30 buildings of cool, a 100-year-old collection of all things Americana. A hidden jewel.

We were hoping during the long stretch of prairie to find unique roadside attractions, and the Buffalo Bill Cody Trading Post in North Platte did not disappoint.

Our route in Nebraska took us beside the North Platte river for most of our journey, and close to sunset beside the river we saw deer and even turkeys. We saw several groups of deer grazing together, and for whatever reason the turkeys liked to hang out close to them.

Finally, about halfway across Nebraska, we arrived at our bed and breakfast, Knoll's Country Inn. The Knolls were a wonderful couple, very warm and welcoming. More photos tomorrow...
